Kapiti Coast
The Kapiti Coast is located 45km north of Wellington and runs for 30km along the west coast. The Kapiti Island is located of the coat line here and is a bird and marine sanctuary. This coast line is popular for its lovely white beaches and attracts many visitors in Summer.
Matiu/Somes Island
In the harbour Matiu/Somes is a breeding ground for various bird species and makes for a good trip to view the history, natural beauty and views. Travel on the Dominion Post Ferry.
Mount Victoria
A good lookout point with views to the Airport, the Harbour, the CBD. It takes about an hour to walk up from Courtenay Place . The memorial at the top of the lookout is dedicated to Admiral Byrd the first person to fly over the South Pole.
Parliamentary District
Like all capital cities Wellington has a large Parliamentary district, that houses New Zealand's seat of power. Old Government building are located here as well as Parliament house and the National Library of New Zealand
Wellington Waterfront
Wellington Waterfront is a lively area with attractions for all. Queens Wharf ,Jervois Quay.
